The founder of GTShelters.com, Gord Taylor, has a proven
track record in the field of construction. His versatility stems
from a wealth of experience in the building trade.
Many of these far-reaching skills he acquired during his
6 year tenure as camp manager in a remote scientific research
station. Gord regularly maintained and overhauled an entire camp
from electrical, plumbing and power generation to the operation
of heavy machinery.
Academically, he achieved his Diploma in Natural Resource
Management in the Pas, which lead him to this Federal Fisheries
and Oceans camp. Hired for his skills in hydrological and meteorological
measurements and reports, Gord found that he had to view projects
in a holistic manner, anticipating and troubleshooting a myriad
of problems many miles from civilization. He continues to enjoy
spending his holidays in this type of natural environment, whitewater
canoeing and kayaking.
Gord's ability to adapt to his surroundings also drew him
to a number of historical projects including the restoration of
a one hundred year old church during the early 1990's. He was
able to transform and rehabilitate the remains of this antique
church structure into a vibrant business while maintaining its
historical integrity.
During this time Gord also served as the Chairman of the
Lake of the Woods Historical Society. The accuracy with which
he was able to perform this restoration drew the attention of
management at the Forks in Winnipeg, where Gord was commissioned
to historically restore a railway parlour car to its original
state.
GTShelters.com continues to provide the Forks with many
of their contracting needs. Gord's skills in art, computer and
digital photography have enabled him to deliver elaborate graphic
illustrations to his clients. His organizational skills provide
accurate estimates including projections for material and labour
costs.
Gord employs a number of skilled tradesmen who have helped
make GT Shelters a reliable name in Manitoba's burgeoning construction
industry.
